A Second Life for Technology, Powering New Opportunities with Computers 2 Kids

When it came time to upgrade our computers, Hoehn Cares saw an opportunity to do more than swap out old equipment. Through our partnership with Computers 2 Kids, we donated 93 desktop computers, 27 LCD monitors, and 1,007 pounds of electronics rather than sending them to a landfill. This local nonprofit refurbishes gently used technology and provides it to qualifying families at an affordable cost, along with a lifetime of technical support, ensuring each device continues to serve families long after it leaves our dealership.

Beyond a Computer:
Access to a reliable computer opens up opportunities beyond convenience; it gives students the tools they need to complete homework, access learning platforms, and stay connected, laying the foundation for long-term success through digital tools that will carry them far beyond the classroom in an increasingly technology-driven world. Computers 2 Kids’ impact doesn’t stop at community support; it extends to environmental sustainability. By donating our electronics instead of sending them to a landfill, we’re helping create a cleaner, more sustainable San Diego. The environmental benefits are significant:
- The energy saved from the donation is equivalent to powering 68 U.S. households for an entire year
- Preventing 1.638 metric tons of air emissions
- Reducing hazardous waste by 963 pounds
